Today is a good day. I’ve officially graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I’ve got a meeting with a client who is incredibly motivated to gain health, I’ve got a clean living room, I hear the birds chirping, I have a smile on my face, and I’m staring at my new logo. I guess I’m practicing some gratitude 😉
I wanted to share a bit about what my logo means to me. You may see a simple tree – but I see so much more.
I’m drawn to this tree. It has strong roots that support a colorful canopy. I think about the roots that support this tree, that keep it strong, standing tall, and nourished. We can’t see the roots, but we know that a healthy tree has a substantial support network behind the scenes. It seems that a healthy tree can effortlessly maintain its health as it draws water and nutrients from the earth and uses sunlight to create energy. A strong tree can withstand the seasons, withstand drought, withstand cloudy skies.
I think of my own family tree when I look at it. I think of the foundation set by all of the people before me, the people who made it possible for my life to have been created.
I think of my own kids when I look at that tree. How I’ve now become part of their root system, and how their health & wellness are dependent upon my influence.
On the day that I got married in the year 2000, our families read the following words in our wedding program,
“You gave us roots, we’ll give you branches”
Maybe that’s why this tree means so much to me – I’ve promised to keep it growing.
Health, wellness, ancestry, strength, foundation, growth… this is what informs my approach as a Health Coach.
And the colors…
Well, the colors that I used in my logo were inspired by nature too. Here are a couple of photos from one of my favorite trees in Madison. For those of you who live in Madison – the trees along Glenway in the fall are spectacular.
I hope that now you are able to see more than a tree with roots… and that maybe you will take some time to consider your own foundation and strength, and whether or not you are doing whatever it takes to nourish your roots.
Thank you!
